What I Built This Week: June 24th-28th, 2024

Just a brief one this week—I’ll let the work speak for itself.

Background Noise

I’ve been a long-time fan of Kapil Gupta’s writing and speaking. Came across this podcast he was on this week and ended up binging on some old podcasts of his.

Mod

Big week for Mod. Now that v2 of Moumint has shipped (privately, public release is a few weeks out), my focus is back on Mod and CheatCode.

This week, I wrapped up work on the initial set of free components that will be shipping in July. I ended up deciding to re-do a few components to make them more flexible/easier to integrate and I’m glad I did.

Enough got done that I decided to record a demo video of what you can expect in Mod. There are currently 57 free components that will ship and a handful of pre-designed compositions that you’ll be able to copy and paste into your UI.

Next Week

Now that the core work on Mod is done, my mind is shifting to testing and tying up loose ends on distribution. Because I’m building Mod with a free and paid version, next week I’ll be figuring out the builds for the free vs. paid versions. I'll likely have a private development repo that builds out the free components/compositions to a public, OSS repo.

After that’s squared away, I’ll move into testing everything and making sure cross-browser and device support is solid. Off-hand, when I've jumped between browsers I didn't see any major issues (thank God for modern browsers—I still have scars from the IE6 days).
